PROJECT SUMMARY

Recover is an exploration in interactivity and experiential design that highlights the current state of Earth’s Oceans. Our aim is to increase awareness and provide solutions to minimize the negative impact of human processes that are destroying the home of thousands of marine species. Through the power of individual choice, you are encouraged to understand the impact of your decisions, specifically how they impact the ocean. Each decision you make will work together to create a cohesive underwater environment that is unique to you. We encourage you to both enjoy the environment you create, and also notice how it is affected by human processes.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Recover is an interactive experience that highlights the current state of the ocean and provides solutions to minimize the negative impact of human processes. Guests will start their experience by walking through an entrance tunnel. The guests will then walk down a corridor that has dynamic lighting and sound effects leading them into a room that is surrounded by projection surfaces.

The guest will be prompted to surround a table in the center of the room that is illuminated by a single spotlight. Guests will answer multiple questions, which have a real-time animatic visual effect along with audio feedback in the environment around them. Each decision will work together to create a multifaceted cohesive underwater environment that is unique to the guests’ responses to the questions. Once the guests have created their environment they can watch how it fares against human processes and comprehend in real-time how sustainable their choices were.

By creating an interactive experience, we engage guests on what is in front of them and transport them into the content they have helped create. By giving the guests a choice to manipulate the environment around them, it allows them to identify and bond with their unique environment. By the end of the experience, guests will understand the magnitude of their actions. Guests will be encouraged and empowered to support sustainable practices based on some of the current dangers to our oceans that were highlighted in the experience.
